    • Obituary: Mrs. Samuel Prest

      After a five-year period of tail-ing health, Mrs. Samuel Prest of Tottenham, passed to her rest at Toronto General Hospital on Monday, Oct. 27, 1947. Formerly Sarah Frances Carr, daughter of the late William Carr and Ann Jane Ireland. She was born in King township on Dec. 18, 1879, where she spent the early part of her life, until her marriage in 1901 to Samuel Prest of Allan-dale, where he was a brakeman on the C.N.R., and later took up farming in the Tottenham vicin-ity. Mrs. Prest, through her kind, pleasant disposition, had made many friends. She was a member of Tottenham United Church and always took a great interest in her church work. She was at one time organist and Sunday school teacher of Churchill Methodist Church. Her husband predeceased her six years ago. Surviving her are one son, William, Tottenham; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Reta) Hoad, Mrs. E. (Lila) Lazenby, both of Toronto; Mrs. Henry (Mary) Rossel, Bradford; also one brother, Herb Carr, To-ronto; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Lila) Depew, Bradford; and Mrs. Annie Diceman, Toronto. Rev. G.H. Purchase conducted the funeral service in Tottenham United Church on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Internment took place in Mount Tegart Cemetery. Flower bearers were Cliff Abram, Robert Watson, Andrew Archibald, Ham-ilton Watson, Harold Maynard, Gerald Eagan, Ted Elmer. Pall-bearers were Herman Patterson, William Wood, Tommy Eagan, William Wray, W.N. Hopper and R.J. Walkem.
